Changes that occur during the firing process of quartz ceramic products

Quartz ceramic products are a relatively stable type of product in terms of performance, and they usually go through the firing process during production. What changes do these products undergo during the firing process?Below we will list them one by one.

Quartz ceramic products

1、The decomposition of crystal water, the raw materials used in the production of quartz ceramic products,in addition to surface water, are later added, and there will be some compounds containing crystal water inside. There are also silicon dioxide and other materials.Different raw materials may contain compounds with similar chemical results, such as kaolin. When heated to a certain temperature, the crystallization water will decompose, vaporize, and evaporate.
2、The decomposition of certain carbonates, such as dolomite, limestone, siderite, magnesite, and rhodochrosite, occurs when heated to a certain temperature, producing corresponding oxides and carbon dioxide,at which point these gases will escape.
3、If the raw materials used in quartz ceramic products are special, there may be some special reactions.
4、Solid phase reactions between different oxides generate low melting point compounds.Different proportions of silica, calcium, magnesium, and aluminum oxides can form different mineral structures at different temperatures, such as feldspar, calcite, spinel, pyroxene, etc.Currently, they are generally determined by binary, ternary,or quaternary phase diagrams.
Although the main component of quartz ceramic products is silicon dioxide, which theoretically has no chemical reaction, other chemical substances are added during production and can still produce some changes during firing, but these changes will not affect the quality of the ceramic.
